چکیده

Aims Detection of E6 and E7 mRNA transcripts has been shown to be of higher prognostic value for the evaluation of the precursor lesions of cervical carcinoma than the detection of HPV DNA in a number of pilot studies [1-3]. In particular in low grade lesions, HPV DNA testing has poor discriminating power as to the progression of CIN, thus leading to considerable overtreatment with ensuing costs to the health care system. We tested an E6, E7 mRNA detection system in a multicenter study in Germany for its usefulness in clinical practice.

Clinical performance of human papillomavirus E6 and E7 mRNA testing for high-grade lesions of the cervix.

Infection with high-risk (HR) human papillomavirus (HPV) is the major cause of cervical cancer. However, relatively few infections progress to malignant disease. Progression to malignancy requires the overexpression of the E6 and E7 genes in the integrated HPV genome. It follows that the E6 and E7 transcripts could be useful markers of disease progression. The study presented here tests this po...

The role of mRNA E6/E7 HPV high oncogenic risk expression in colposcopy of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).

UNLABELLED The aim of this paper is the evaluation of colposcopy and mRNA E6/E7 HPV detection--as the marker of persistent human papilloma virus (HPV) infection in the triage of abnormal Pap smears and in the assessment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia progression risk. The clinical material consisted of 85 women, participating the national cervical cancer screening in the period of April ...

Expression of AP1 during cellular differentiation determines human papillomavirus E6/E7 expression in stratified epithelial cells.

E6 and E7 oncoproteins of human papillomavirus (HPV) play significant roles in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer. However, the pattern of E6/E7 expression during the productive virus life cycle in differentiating epithelia of the uterine cervix remains unclear. In addition, little is known about the cellular factors regulating E6/E7 expression in differentiating epithelia. In the present stud...

DNA aneuploidy and integration of human papillomavirus type 16 e6/e7 oncogenes in intraepithelial neoplasia and invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix uteri.

PURPOSE Increasingly deregulated expression of the E6-E7 oncogenes of high-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPVs) has been identified as the major transforming factor in the pathogenesis of cervical dysplasia and derived cancers. The expression of these genes in epithelial stem cells first results in chromosomal instability and induces chromosomal aneuploidy. It is speculated that this subsequen...

Role of E6/E7 mRNA in discriminating patients with high-risk human papilloma virus-positive associated with cytology-negative and atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of E6/E7 mRNA in discriminating patients who were high-risk human papilloma virus-positive associated with cytology-negative and Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance (ASCUS). This study comprised of 380 women (age: >30 years) who were associated with high risk of cervical virus infection and they underwent simultaneous examinatio...
